Vibrobot

With our holiday travel plans on hold, I thought I'd get a video out for a project that Sam and I did last summer.

We read about Vibrobot in Make Magazine volume 10 and thought that we could kick it up a bit. Our version used two AA batteries, included a switch and had a glue stick for the offset weight. This gave ours a bit more power and speed that what is shown in the video in the above link.

It took us about an hour and a half to build the robot. Sam and his pals in the neighborhood played with it all afternoon. Not bad for a toy made from "junk" laying around in my shop. :)

Eventually, the vibrobot shook it's motor apart. Sam then disassembled the entire thing and has used bits of it for playing Doctor Who and other kid adventures.

The following is a video of Sam explaining how it all works. He wanted this video to be for a pretend tv show hosted by him called "Rebuilders" which is perhaps not a bad idea (hint hint for anyone reading this from the Discovery Channel). He also makes a Doctor Who reference and we see a few cameo appearances by several of our pets.
